The Basics of Climate-Linked Bonds
Climate-linked bonds are fixed-income assets that are linked to climate-change solutions.
The majority of climate bonds issued to date have been use-of-proceeds bonds.
Climate bonds provide an opportunity for investors, such as insurance companies, to hedge against climate risks.
They jointly recommended in a February 2024 research paper that climate bonds be issued by the European Stability Mechanism.
